On Friday, August 26th, I got a call from Jay Pruitt who was someone I thought was my friend. He was complaining of a hurt back from the previous night’s shenanigans. He asked me if I had any Vicodin and I said no. He then asked if he could come over to lay in my bed for a little bit because he was in the area. I told him it was ok even though he sounded like he had been up for days and still under the influence of substances. He always sounded like that actually and I was naive to think my home and its contents were safe from his sticky fingers.
He came by and asked me again if I had any pills. I once again replied “no, I have nothing”. He then went to lay in my bed while I was upstairs working on music. When I went downstairs 10 minutes later he was gone. That afternoon I opened the drawer next to my bed that I kept my cash savings in and found it gone! $9,000 gone. It was my money that I had saved from playing Govinda shows over the course of this year. It was the money that I used to buy groceries and support my family. It was my reserve in case of emergency. Jay Pruitt wiped us out. My family now faces the possibility of having to move to Houston to live with my father so we can get back on our feet. I will have to take the kids out of school and start over because of this loser that needed to get his next fix.
I am an optimist and would like to turn this around to be a positive thing so I have decided to offer a new song (Shock the Monkey -reinterpretation mix) as a free download when you send a donation to me and my family. (min $3) This is the only place this mix will ever be available so thank you so much for helping us get back on our feet. We love all of you.
Once I have received the notice of the paypal donation I will email you a code that will give you the link to download the song.
